HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Can you believe it’s already the second week of 2017?! 2016 feels like it was just yesterday…

To start off the new year with a bang, we want to bring you back to the HEYDAY blog! Here you will find all things fashion + comfort, tips on styling different pieces and how to curate and personalize your best outfit. We cannot wait to share more easy + functional style essentials with you on the weekly. We are so excited to do this together. YOU are the biggest part of the journey!

Even though we are already a week into 2017, we are still relishing in the freshness that this new season brings. What a great time to clear your mind, get organized or maybe take a look at your closet. With a new, new comes a new set of clothes.

Maybe you are trying to simplify your wardrobe, or maybe you are on the hunt for more versatile, staple items in which to build. Whatever your wardrobe goal this year, there will always be classic items that never leave your closet. We all have that special pair of jeans that feel like they were perfectly made for us, or that jacket that magically pairs well with everything. These are the building blocks of your wardrobe — the foundation that you will always revert back to no matter how many twists and turns your personal style takes.

Here at HEYDAY, we are all about those timeless pieces. We’ve assembled our favorite staple items in the shop to demonstrate how versatile your closet can be with just a handful of great pieces. We want to inspire you to live simply + comfortably without having to sacrifice your personal style. So, without further adieu, here are the quintessential items that belong in your wardrobe!

Cardigan

If you don’t already have a cardigan in your closet, it’s time to change that. This may be the most versatile piece in your wardrobe. Throw it on over jeans and a tee on a morning you feel rushed out the door or over a fancy dress and heels to dress down the look. We paired our favorite Friday’s Project cardigan with these amazing culottes. The simple tank top tucked into the pants with the loose cardigan over it adds an element of ease. We dressed up the look with the Free People Luxor Platform chunky heel. We have a variety of cardigans at HEYDAY. Pick from a selection of neutral colors and different lengths, and your options are simply endless!

Clogs

Ahh, where do we start with these clogs? There’s really not anything quite like them. Made with real horse hair and a wood platform, these clogs will transform your everyday outfit into something unique + fun. The neutral colors allow them to be paired with a variety of pieces in your closet. Dress them up with a little black dress, or make it business casual with a classic sheer button down. We styled them with the Just Black asymmetrical hem black jeans and a loose blouse, which is perfect for the workplace and for date night afterwards! Leave those uncomfortable heels at home and opt for style + comfort in these one-of-a-kind shoes.

Tank

Rain or shine, a simple tank top is a must-have item in your wardrobe. Even in chillier weather, you will find yourself reaching for a comfy tank more often than not. Tanks are great to wear underneath bulkier cardigans or knit sweaters in the winter and are very convenient for those lazy days around the house. Your tank top will make a smooth transition into the spring underneath a light jacket. We paired a simple black strappy tank with Levi’s washed black wedgie fit jeans, and the Free People Amber Orchard Clog. Your options here are limitless.

Levi’s

Levi’s jeans are timeless. Since 1853 this brand has been a staple in closets across America. Not only are Levi’s incredibly comfortable, but they can be styled so many ways. Levi’s are so classic they will instantly give your outfit a relaxed, laid back vibe. We styled the light wash boyfriend pair with a loose peplum top and Free People Ventura Ankle Booties. HEYDAY carries a serval colors and styles of Levi’s — dark wash, light wash, olive green and charcoal. Aside from the boyfriend fit, we carry a skinny Wedgie fit too. Come on in and we can help you find the right style for you!

Jacket

Who says we have to trade in style for warmth in the winter months? We disagree! Meet the game changer: this amazing trench coat. What a simple, yet incredibly functional piece to add to your closet. We like to call it the Sherlock Holmes jacket, and trust us, you will feel unstoppable after slipping this on in the morning. The tan coloring brings a lightweight element to your outfit and the flowy fit is flattering on everyone. We integrated this coat into an chic everyday outfit by pairing it with a simple tee and a dark wash jean. The Free People Block Heel adds sophistication. Brave the cold weather by staying warm + looking good.
